Agency Highlights 2001 

  • North Simcoe Catholic Family Life Centre: assisted over 200 people to move from the streets into temporary shelters.
  • Mary Centre: provided services in an integrated seniors programme and obtained additional $300,000 funding from government.
  • Silent Voice Canada: expanded services to include a new delivery site; work now being done with deaf clients that find themselves homeless.
  • Catholic Community Services of York Region: filmed and launched nine distinctive cultural videos, "different Yet the Same: a Look into Canadian Cultures Today" in collaboration with Fairchild Television and funding from Citizenship and Immigration, Canada; provided settlement workers to both school boards to assist newly-arrived families.
  • Good Shepherd Centre: provided a resettlement programme that helped 217 men secure permanent housing and assisted 269 men as they dealt with their addictions.
  • Pelletier Homes for Youth: opened a new residence and expanded their services for young women.
  • Catholic Family Services of Durham: hosted round table sessions for parents and teens dealing with the topic of "dating violence" at which over 800 persons attended.
  • Rosalie Hall: participation in the parent respite programme doubled; 83% success rate in the employment programme meant individuals became employed or continued their education as a result of the programme.
  • Catholic Cross-Cultural Services: expanded programmes providing services in the ares of Violence against Women and housing issues.
  • St. Bernadette's Family Resource Centre: began an intervention programme for babies born with developmental and/or physical challenges with financing through Early Years Fund.
  • Catholic Family Services of Toronto: began an early intervention programme for young children who witnessed violence, in partnership with Clarica Insurance.
  • Catholic Family Life Centre Simcoe South: planned and provided a successful public forum on "Meeting the Emotional Needs of Older Adults"
