ONTARIO ELECTION GUIDE 2011
COUNTING ON YOUR VOTE!

For the October 6th Ontario General Election, Catholic Charities has created a GUIDE that focuses on issues that are regularly raised by Catholic Charities and its member agencies and affect individuals and families of the most vulnerable in society.
The issues are similar to those raised in our Federal Election Guide: the need for affordable and supportive housing, the need to move forward on Poverty Reduction actions to support better those individuals and families whose lives have been adversely affected throughout the province in the current economy.
Pope Benedict in Caritas in Veritate says that "the primary capital to be safeguarded and valued is the human person…" Canada’s Bishops remind us that the responsible use of freedom means promotion of human life and the dignity of the person as well as the preferential option for the poor.

Your Right to be Heard
Votre droit de vous faire entendre
The Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario (ACBO) has issued a guide inviting Catholics to vote with discernment in the Ontario General Election, set for Thursday, October 6, 2011.
The Guide, Your Right to be Heard / Votre droit de vous faire entendre, speaks about your right to be heard as citizens and principles to guide each citizen as they cast their vote.
Elections, for people of faith, are a matter of conscience. In the period leading up to the election, we are reminded that as Christians we are called to learn about the issues; weigh how each candidate and each party approaches these issues; consider the principles of Catholic social teaching; and, make an informed decision on Election Day.
