CFSPD BOOST

Catholic Family Services Dufferin-Peel (CFSPD) received a $5 million dollar boost in federal funds to complete its new Family Justice and Child Abuse Centre in Brampton. The 30,000-square-foot facility is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2011. The federal funds come out the Canada Economic Action stimulus plan and represent half of the $10 million cost. The Ontario government last year provided $1 million toward the project. CFSPD is responsible for raising the balance.

CFSPD Board President Andrea Broadley said the funding was good "not only for our agency, but also for service providers within Peel-Dufferin whose vision it is to ease the suffering of people in their time of greatest need."

The new CFSPD Brampton Family Justice and Child Abuse Centre will provide a central location for individuals, couples and families who are in need of counselling or support services.

CFSPD supporters attended a special event marking the federal funding. Among those in attendance were former Ontario Premier Bill Davis, Federal Transport and Infrastructure Minister John Baird, MP Bob Dechert and Michael Fullan, Executive Director of Catholic Charities.
